Hydrant Meter Rentals

The District will issue a fire hydrant meter within the Woodinville Water District service area for temporary connections for the purposes of development, demolition, landscaping activities or related purposes, provided the need for such service is demonstrated to the District. Only the District’s meter will be authorized and a backflow prevention device by current regulations will be supplied by the District to connect to the fire hydrant.

Current Fees

  • $3500 Refundable Deposit for 3” Hydrant meter and 2” RP Backflow device (Commercial Customers) plus the current irrigation meter volume rate (PDF) and 2026 Rate Schedule
  • $1000 Refundable Deposit for .75” Hydrant meter and .75” RP Backflow device (Residential Customers) plus the current irrigation meter volume rate (PDF) and 2026 Rate Schedule
  • For short-term hydrant meter rentals, the District has the flexibility to make exceptions to deposits if the circumstances merit it.
  • $25 per week ($25 minimum)
  • Unauthorized connections to a fire hydrant shall be charged a minimum of $500
  • If the meter is lost or stolen, the weekly $25 charge will accrue until such time as the District is notified of the missing equipment.

Procedure

Complete Request for Fire Hydrant Meter Rental (PDF) agreement and pay deposit, bring cash/check to District, pay with credit card via DOXO plus a non-refundable 3.5% fee or with bank account via DOXO, prior to the requested rental day. All fire hydrant meters are REQUIRED to have backflow protection attached to the hydrant at all times provided by the District.

The requestor shall provide support under the meter and/or backflow device.

Equipment must be returned with the same fittings and in the same condition as checked out. Repairs and replacement costs for lost or damaged meters, backflow devices, unpaid rental fees and unpaid water usage costs will be deducted from the damage deposit upon the return of rental equipment. Any additional fees will be invoiced or refunded accordingly. 

All vehicles and vessels that have an air vac are subject to inspection the first time the hydrant meter is used and anytime thereafter at the District’s discretion.

Water usage will be billed at the irrigation rate per the current rate resolution.

Meter read must be emailed to waterquality@woodinvillewater.com by the 5th of each month. Failure to comply will result in a District employee meter reading charge of $50 and/or confiscation of the fire hydrant meter. Invoices which become 60 days delinquent may be subject to all costs incurred by the District, including attorney fees, to collect the amount due.
