Do Not Flush Wipes

Clogged valve blocked with wipes.

There is a significant risk to the sewer system from the increased practice of flushing rags and wipes, used in the cleaning and disinfecting process, down the toilet. Even though some disinfectant wipes are labeled “flushable”, experience has shown this is not the case. Disposable baby wipes, disinfecting “pop up” wipes, paper towels, and even small make-up remover wipes are the #1 cause of clogged sewer lines and pumps. Our ratepayers are ultimately responsible for the cost of repairing these backups. This is an avoidable problem and not an expense anyone wants to incur at any time, let alone during a public emergency.
